Elijah’s Home – Frail Care Durban
“We pride ourselves that we are a “home”, and not an institution. Family members and friends are always welcome and encouraged to visit their loved ones – at any time of the day. Families can also join their loved ones over lunch or tea.”
Elijah’s Home Frail Care Durban’s staff are pinnacle to the success of the home. Staff members are accountable for their service – which is essential in the area of nursing and care giving.
There is a large staff compliment to ensure the best care is provided at all times. They include:
- Professinal Registered Nurses
- Trained Staff Nurses
- In-house Physiotherapist
- Warm and loving caregivers
Four shifts of nursing teams are operational each day. The leader of each shift reports to the Sister in charge.
There are doctors in the area who do “house calls” for residents who are too frail to make the trip to the doctor.
The physiotherapist and audiologist also visit Elijah’s Home to provide rehabilitative services.
At Elijah’s Home, the emphasis is on “pro-active” nursing, with the aim of preventing illness and accidents wherever possible. To achieve this, we apply constant monitoring of all residents on a daily basis. Residents also attend “clinic” days where the house doctor assesses each resident.
Elijahs Home Frail Care Durban has 51 rooms – seven of which are double rooms, single rooms and a ward. All the rooms are fitted with TV connections.
The rooms are all fully furnished but residents are also encouraged to bring their own sentimental furnishings, photos, paintings and other items to make their surroundings more special to them.
There are shared bathrooms, as well as communal lounge and dining area.
Residents are also encouraged to spend time outside under the covered patio area. There are also lots of shaded spots in the garden to enjoy a good book, or relax in Nature.
